Using a travel agent doesn't cost you a penny, and in some cases, a travel agent can help save you money by finding and accessing deals and promotional fares. But most importantly, a good travel agent can answer your questions about cruising and provide valuable advice about ships and port stops to make your vacation amazing.
I'm a bit of a control freak myself. Handing my trip over to someone else isn't usually my M.O. But that's the great thing about booking with a travel agent: You can do as much or as little of the heavy lifting as you want. Your travel agent can even book the exact cabin you want!
And again, it's no cost to you - travel agent commissions
are paid by the cruise line.
Want to go on a Caribbean cruise in September? Tell your travel agent, and she'll give you some options — but she'll also let you know that it's hurricane season, and you definitely want to purchase travel insurance. Know that you want to go on a specific sailing or take a trip on a particular cruise ship? Your travel agent can help you do that too — and she can let you know if you can save a few bucks by taking the trip a week or two later or earlier.
